1996 Angelus - Wine Advocate # 115 - Feb 1998: Performing well in several tastings, this wine possesses a dense black/purple color, powerful aromatics of grilled meats, sweet black berry, plum, and currant fruit, full body, plenty of tannin, and muscular, chewy flavors with exceptional intensity. New oak is present, but it is less lavishly displayed than in other vintages of a similar age. This is a backward, 20-30 year wine, although it is not as ferociously tannic as one might expect given the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2020.
